ComPon – A Unique Integrated Floating Energy Center
ComPon – A Czech Innovation Changing the Future of Municipal Energy. Boilen s.r.o. Takes a Key Role in Its Implementation.
The energy sector is undergoing its most significant transformation in decades. Growing demands for CO₂ emission reduction, municipal energy self-sufficiency, and the efficient use of renewable resources are driving the development of entirely new technologies.
One such innovation is ComPon 1 – a unique floating integrated energy facility representing a novel approach to producing and distributing heat and cold for cities using river water energy via modern, large-capacity heat pumps. The project was conceived by JN Infra, which, together with its technology partners, created a solution combining modern energy engineering, shipbuilding, and cutting-edge mechanical technology into a single, cohesive unit.
Boilen s.r.o. as the Implementation Partner
Boilen s.r.o. was selected as a key partner for the project and will play a crucial role in its project management, technical supervision, engineering coordination, and construction management.
In addition to comprehensive coordination and expert supervision of individual contractors, we bring extensive experience in managing large-scale industrial investments, process engineering, multi-discipline coordination, construction scheduling, and quality management. These areas are decisive in ensuring that cutting-edge technology is successfully transitioned from project documentation into real-world operation. The ComPon 1 project presents an extraordinary technical challenge, integrating a wide range of specialized fields:
- Process-energy design and engineering
- Power and mechanical engineering
- Piping systems, electrical engineering, and I&C (Instrumentation & Control)
- Naval architecture and marine certifications
- Complex 3D design and safety systems
- Manufacturing management and final assembly
Boilen’s task is to integrate all these specialized domains into a fully functional system while guaranteeing delivery to the required quality standards, schedule, and budget.
A New Generation of Municipal Energy Solutions
ComPon is more than just a piece of technical equipment. It represents a new way for cities to utilize energy that is literally within their reach. Urban rivers hold immense energy potential that has historically been underutilized. Modern heat pumps allow this energy to be efficiently transformed into heating and cooling for district systems.
ComPon generates both heat and cold – two essential commodities produced by a single technology. District cooling, where available, offers the most efficient method for cooling city-center buildings. A major advantage of this floating design is that it eliminates the need to acquire valuable urban real estate. Positioned directly on the water's surface, the energy center can supply adjacent infrastructure. Being located as close as possible to end consumers—such as at a public quay—significantly shortens the distribution network, reducing both capital investments and operational costs, which ultimately lowers energy prices for end users.
ComPon does not look like an industrial energy center. The machinery is fully enclosed inside the hull and acoustically isolated from the environment, while the top deck creates a new public space for the community.
Czech Know-How with European Potential
The ComPon 1 project proves that technologies capable of competing with world-class solutions in modern energy engineering continue to emerge from Central Europe.
ComPon is protected by European patent EP4495499 with extended scope (EP About this file - European Patent Register), and validation is currently underway across key Asian and American markets. Combining the specialized domain expertise of JN Infra, technology partners, and the complex industrial project execution capabilities of Boilen s.r.o. forms a strong team determined to deliver not only an exceptional energy installation, but also a showcase project capable of inspiring cities across the Czech Republic and internationally.
At a time when European cities are actively seeking pathways toward decarbonization and greater energy independence, ComPon 1 delivers a practical solution uniting high efficiency, sustainability, and effective utilization of natural resources.
A Commitment of Trust
The participation of Boilen s.r.o. in the ComPon 1 project reinforces the trust placed in our ability to manage complex technological construction projects.
Every successful project relies on robust management, precise coordination, and the ability to integrate hundreds of technical details into one seamless system. That is precisely the value we bring to ComPon 1.
We are confident that ComPon 1 will serve as a landmark reference project for the next generation of energy solutions, paving the way for similar implementations across the Czech Republic and Europe.
